How the ChristmasTales advent calendar works
Behind each of the 24 doors is a small Christmas treat for the whole family. There's a cosy bedtime story for younger children, a longer adventure for 8 to 12 year olds, a free browser game, and a Christmas fact, joke, poem or activity to share at breakfast. Everything is written by the ChristmasTales team and is free to use.
- 48 original stories: hedgehogs and lost stars for little ones, and mysteries, time travel and nativity-play chaos for older readers.
- 24 Christmas games: snowball fights, a reindeer roundup, an elf escape room and a Christmas Eve finale. You can also go straight to the games calendar.
- Screen-light by design: most doors take 5 to 15 minutes, and the daily fact, joke or activity is made for sharing away from the screen.

Questions parents ask
Is the ChristmasTales advent calendar really free?
Yes. Every door is free, with no sign-up, no app and no email address needed. It works in any web browser on a phone, tablet, laptop or smart TV.
When do the doors open?
One door opens each day from 1 to 24 December 2026, at midnight UK time. Door 1 is open now as a free preview, so you can see what's inside.
What age is it for?
Every door has two stories: a short bedtime story for ages 4 to 7 (about 4 minutes to read aloud) and a longer adventure or mystery for ages 8 to 12. The games suit most children from about 5 upwards, and plenty of grown-ups play them too.
Can we use it in the classroom?
Yes. The stories read well aloud, the games run on interactive whiteboards with no login, and the daily fact or joke makes an easy morning-register starter in the last weeks of term.
We missed a day. Can we catch up?
Yes. Once a door has opened it stays open, so you can go back to any earlier day at any time.
